  Anyone else an Ex Bethel "volunteer"

  i was wondering if there were any other ex-bethelites on here.

  i personally regularly went for temporary work at brooklyn then was assigned to the farm for a year and a half.

  it was... one of the most bizaare experiences of my life.. so i wrote it all down (finally, after some 15 years) so i won't bore anyone on here with the details of the story - because bethel doesn't show up until chapter 15... and for you straight folks, it gets a bit gay in two places... but nothing gross.

  Visit to Bethel, Convention Jitters and Kingdom Hall Attendance Dropping of a Cliff!

  i feel like jehovah has cursed me some days and others i feel he is using me to direct others out the front and back door of our kingdom hall.

  here's my update on our perfect congregation, we are losing publishers monthly with meeting attendance down below one hundred during the weekday meeting.

  should i feel guilty for mistreating the miserable mentally ill and chronically ill publishers who are milking the public welfare system, nto because they do not deserve anything better but because they bring only their appetite to our spiritual banquet while we elderettes study the watchtower and wow the publishers with our thirty second polished comments to bring praise to jehovah.

  someone told me that there is a rumor that soon the watchtower and awake's magazines will be only one (fusion).. anybody knows something concrete about that, or is only rumor instead?.

  enjoy, you deserve the right to these things and selfish straight people have been holding on to such wonderful rights for far too long.

  Looks like "Jehovah's earthly organization" has thrown up its hands and given up on reaching Muslems, Hindus, Buddhists, and most of the rest of Asia's population. All they do is pass out cheap tracts to people that are already well acquainted with many other Christian religions. They don't have anything meaningful that would begin to convert non-Christians. JWs don't even have Bibles in case a householder should ask for one. Their "preaching work" is just spinning their wheels to report meaningless and inaccurate statistics to congratulate themselves. And what kind of future are they expecting? WT Corporation is selling off branches and their Brooklyn properties to disappear into the woods.

  When they say, "Make Sure of the More Important Things," what they mean is, "Make Sure to Bow Down to the Golden Jackasses in Brooklyn, the DOs, the COs, and the Local Elders."

  Elders won't stop bugging

  so i haven't been to a meeting since last december.

  the elders recently have come over to my house at random times of day and during the week and one weekends.

  just to let you know, i have only had one visit since december.

  Similar thought: Simply ignore them. If cornered, tell them that you'd heard some knocking and had gotten phone calls, but suspect that it was demons, or worse... apostates! Tell them that you are afraid of the contamination of apostates within the organization and so have been studying and praying at home so that no imperfect humans can come between you and god.

  Otherwise, the suggestion to ask for a cash loan would be really interesting.

  JW-land is now bigger than Switzerland!

  i notice the latest yearbook was making a big think about jws being more populous than the country of switzerland.

  jws have overtaken a number of small countries in recent years, such as norway, denmark, israel, el salvador, finland, georgia, hong kong and new zealand.

  they will be overtaking places like austria, portugal, belgium and greece next.

  Pfft. Imagine a countrly like Switzerland populated almost entirely by undereducated residents. I know lots of JWs that would neither hire nor work for other JWs.

  What kind of a country would JWs produce? The way WT is selling off Brooklyn real estate and foreign branches, the "WT Switzerland" would be slowly selling their land to Germany. And the rate that I've seen JW kids leave the religion and get demonized for getting "higher education", only to be replaced by new "Bible students" with mental and emotional problems, I'm sure "WT Switzerland" would see a continuous "brain drain" and wouldn't be able to prove any education higher than the kids reading "My Book of Bible Stories". And judging by the contents of the elders manual, "JW Switzerland" would find themselves criticized by their neighbors for their crappy laws that let pedophiles run free if they "act repentant".

  New Trend in Dramas?

  so it used to be that all dramas were ot.

  period, that was it.. then they started incorporating a "modern day" application of the ot drama where actors in the present day reflected on the story.. then they started using some highly fictionalized nt characters in dramas (never jesus of course).

  in the past few years we've been getting more "modern dramas", just about people in the present dealing with their "problems".

  Shador: Oh, the dramas would be fantastic if I could do the writing and casting.

  Unfortunately, WT has certain policies that would mess things up. For one thing, being "in good standing" is required to be in the DC drama. After enough nude rehearsals with unintended actions and judicial committee meetings, the parts would have to be played by the most nonfornicationworthy JWs. Imagine the "beautiful dauthers of Job" coming out with enough wrinkles, sagging, and age spots that nobody in attendance would have sex for the next year.

  If it were left to me, "in good standing" would be a disqualification to be in the dramas I would envision for a DC.

  one of the things i certainly noticed as a jw, and even during the time i was in bethel, was the complexities of reporting "truth.".

  beginning with an observation on a personal level, i consider myself an honest person.

  but something happened along the way, beginning when i pioneered.

  Vidiot: Since the WT financials aren't open for public review, there's no way for anyone to know exactly what goes on. But we are sure left to speculate.

  In my bethel experience, I didn't see evidence of fraud, with someone pocketing money. However, I did see a lot of terrible decisions that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Since bethel would put people in responsible positions based on "spiritual qualifications" (or their ability to kiss the right as$es), inexperienced and uneducated people became responsible for important and expensive decisions. For temporary workers up to bethelites that only last a couple of years, they often don't see this. But when you stick around much longer like I did, you see the trend often repeated of expensive mistakes having to be corrected and covered up at "God's House."
